My dream, becomes a reality.

Hi, my name is Alacia, I’m 14 years old.

When I was just 9 years old I had the inspiration to start writing stories, wether it was down on pieces of paper, notepads, anything I could find. I always loved to read from a very young age as well. When I was 9 years of age, I had never really told anyone that I wanted to be an author when I got older. I just wrote small stories, that eventually turned into the beginnings of books. I had a couple of books on the go by the age of 11 years old, by the time I was 11 I was typing them down on word perfect on my mothers laptop, in which I had simply asked her to use to write things in word perfect, she did not deny it, so I was all set to begin to type. I had two books when I was 11, both I did not finish and I trashed. I got to chapter 7 in one book  that was all the creations of my mind and chapter 4 in the other, that was a fanfiction of my favorite video game. I stopped writing for a while after that. But eventually,my new friends at my new  school had mentioned how they love writing stories and how they want to be authors, and I opened up to them, they encouraged me so much. I got back into writing and begun writing another book.

By the age of 12, I had moved away from those friends, but they wanted me to finish the book I started around them, which at the time, I was determined to do. But I never did finish it, I scrapped that one as well and stopped for a little while. They seemed a bit upset over it, but they got over it. I eventually got once again back into it at 13, and I had, with the help of my new confidence level and maturity, and of course the encouragement of my entire class, finished a book, a fantasy book. I took it to my grandmother, who had been educated for editing in the english language and she agreed to take it in and review it to make  proper corrections. It took one whole summer and a couple months after that, and she had been encouraging me to write the second one, to my first, because i had told her how I wanted it to be a series.

I had thought that she may have not liked my story and found a ton of grammatical mistakes, considering I have been taught at french schools my entire life and got taught english class for the first time in the 4th grade. But she was suprised herself and said it was incredible and that I did better then she expected. Now, during the process of her editing my novel, I had contacted a publishing company online and they offered me a publishing contract, one that I was so excited about that I was just going to get it done after my grandmother had finished. But she wanted to look it over and she did. She did not like the contract at all and told me that their were many hidden fees that I would have to pay in the end. I was so upset, all I wanted was to get it published and have my friends and family and even strangers read it and enjoy it. 

My grandmother saw how much I wanted this and saw the potential in my book and we spent a whole weekend together looking on the internet for different publishing companies that could publish such a young writer, and for publishing companies that did take unsolicited manuscripts. We found a local company, messaged them and throughout the week my grandmother emailed me telling me how they would like for me to go meet them and discuss my novel. So I did, we schedualed a meeting and I went with my grandma, we gave them my manuscript and they got back to me saying that I should come back in. So I did, and that is when things got very serious, they gave my grandma a quote and asked how I would like it formatted and congratulated me on how they are publishing my book. Ever since that meeting and many others that came after that, and still a couple more to come, I have been working to make sure my book is as perfect as can be, we had contacted news papers and got a press release, my school suprised me by setting up an interview with a french newspaper that goes across my country and said that they were proud of me. Many people have been asking me questions and want a copy, I am planning to do singings and readings once it hits the presses for publication, which will be shortly. My novel is expected to be for sale before christmas!
