Yet another survival story: Man rescued 2 weeks after Haiti quake

A 35-year-old man who said he had been trapped in a collapsed store since the major earthquake struck Haiti two weeks ago has been pulled out of the rubble.
The man, identified as Rico Dibrivell, was covered in dust, wearing only underpants. He was found by the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division’s Delta Company on Tuesday.
Troops with the company said they were conducting a rubble-clearing mission in downtown Port-au-Prince when they spotted movement in the crushed concrete, CNN reported.
U.S. soldiers treated him for a broken leg and severe dehydration. The military provided no details about how he managed to survive, saying late Tuesday only that the man’s family said he had been missing since the Jan. 12 quake.
But it is not clear whether Dibrivell had been trapped from the onset of the quake.
“We don’t know if he was there from the beginning or if in one of the aftershocks he may have gone under,” Army Specialist Andrew Pourak told AFP.
Pourak said Dibrivell will recover. Officials told CNN he had access to water during his ordeal.
Around 130 people have been found alive in rubble following the 7.0-magnitude quake, which is estimated to have killed up to 200,000 people. Authorities say it is unlikely for anyone to survive more than 72 hours without water.
On Saturday, an international team of rescuers unearthed a shop clerk who they believed had been buried since the quake hit. The 24-year-old man had apparently survived on soda he found at the hotel shop.
